Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5 Sense Launch

Last night I had the pleasure of attending Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5 Sense Launch at Noho Studios in london.

The night was filled with PR companies, bloggers (like myself) and celebrities ( Jamie Jewit; Professional Boxer, Pete Wicks; The Only Way is Essex, Sam Callahan: Singer Sam Thompson from Made in Chelsea ) and the Wilkinson Team which was a pleasure to meet and talk to.

I learnt about when the company fist started in 1773 and how it has developed in 246 years, from been a heavy shaving device for men to been a modern, light, flexible and compact to use for both genders.

I would like to say this year has been the year in all my adult life that I have learnt so much, as an individual. I learnt what patience really is about, God’s true favour on my life, the loses and also gains and finally the opportunities I was given and was part of from collaborations with PR companies to attending events I never saw myself been invited to and also been able to be back on FM Radio.

I am proud to say I really stepped out of my comfort zone in trying hairstyles, bolder colours and also not giving a flying F**k of what anyone says I am not capable of doing

Here is to try new hair colours, experiencing life to the fullest and being bold, beautiful and confident in 2018

So I was at the Karla Otto Spring Summer Press preview at Sackville Street London, for those of you who do not know who Karla Otto are here is a brief explanation

Each clients had individualism, creativity and really captured the essence of next years trends by high-lighting the key trends which are: Floral, neon and pastel colours, earthy tones and palm trees

REN SKINCARE PRODUCTS REVIEWS

Hey guys so I was  so excited to be given the opportunity to try out REN Skincare facial skincare products which are:

  • Glycol-lactic Radiance renewal Mask
  • Flash Defence anti-pollution face mist

And I wanted to let you guys know my honest review about each product and basically here goes

The Glycol-lactic radiance renewal mask has a very soft texture when you first apply it on your palm, and i literally only added very little, you do not need much, just a drop goes a long way, then i carefully massaged it into my face and let it sit for 15 minutes.

Then after all i had to do was rinse it off with warm water and it came off very easy

The science behind the bottle

Papain – The Enzyme Exfoliator


Papain is an enzyme that is extracted from the skin of the papaya fruit. Enzymes perform biological functions – this particular one helps degrade bonds between cells on the top layer of the skin to help encourage exfoliation and renewal (very similar to those cosmetic acids really!). One interesting property of papain is its reported ability to help reduce scars – we found this mentioned in a couple of reputable places, but don’t get sold on this too quickly – we weren’t able to find many robust studies supporting this property.

While we’re happy that there is some suggestion that this ingredient might help with scarring, we were concerned to find that in some cases papain can sensitize the skin and cause reactions! This is certainly something to be watching out for when considering using papain-containing products, and we’d definitely recommend patch-testing before use!

Some Added Extras


Aside from the advertised exfoliating acids and enzymes, we spotted a few other ingredients in this product’s formulation, including cranberry, grape, orange and grapefruit seed oils. Oils like these have high fatty acid contents to help hydrate skin and many contain antioxidant molecules

My Verdict

The product itself actually leaves you with what during the colder months in this city seems like an impossibly tall order: a happy, healthy brightness, with no awkward post-treatment redness or irritation. All of which is to say, I actually enjoyed using this product and would recommend it to you guys to purchase it the price is worth it

The Science Behind The Bottle

Undaria Pinntifida Extract

This is a brown seaweed, the main active ingredient being Fucoidin. ‘Detoxify’ is a non-scientific word and therefore difficult to justify through evidence based research. However fucoidan has been shown to be a good natural source of antioxidants and protective against oxidative stress.

In a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial where the extract was applied topically, it also demonstrated marked inhibitory effects on processes linked to skin ageing. The major effects of Undaria Pinntifida extract were that it aided skin immunity, soothing and protection.

Hydrolyzed Candida Saitoana Extract

This is a fungi obtained from a fermentation process. ‘Fun guy’ jokes aside, according to the French company that developed it (Silab), it is designed to work with the skins natural repair mechanisms. Internal clinical studies using 1% of the ingredient showed a 19% boost in markers of skin cell regeneration and a 13.9% reduction in quantity of oxidation, allowing the company to conclude (from its own trials, which on the downside is a conflict of interest), that the ingredient could improve complexions and reduce oxidative damage from free radicals (such as those in pollution).

Lactic Acid

A leave-on exfoliant, Lactic acid contains alpha hydroxy-acid (AHA) extracted from milk, although most cosmetic brands use a synthetic form. This breaks down the material holding surface skin cells together, allowing them to be washed away and encouraging skin cell regeneration. It may also lighten skin discoloration.

Biosaccharide Gum 4 

This is the ‘blend of Polysaccharide gum to form a non-sticky, invisible shield’. A polysaccharide is just a carbohydrate molecule and this particular type is made from fermented plants. It binds water to the surface layer of the skin, creating a film that gives it a soft, smooth feeling and functions as an anti-irritant.

 Sophora Japonica Flower Extract

An extract of the flowers of ‘The Chinese Scholar Tree’, the dried flowers and buds are used as a medicinal herb in parts of Asia with the active ingredient being Quercetin. It is traditionally used in these countries to treat excessive bleeding and in fact, studies have shown that the compounds anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative properties could indeed have such an effect.

In terms of skincare, research has shown that a lipid-based delivery system is optimal for quercetin to exert antioxidant benefits, so it is good news that the product contains the fatty acids mentioned above, which will work in harmony with this ingredient for maximal effectiveness.

It also has the added benefits of helping to protect the skin’s elastin (which is what keeps our faces young and stretchy), as well as healing and improving the appearance of scars.

Benzyl Salicylate

A salicylic acid mainly used for fragrance and to absorb UV light, though this should not replace your regular SPF. Some people can have reactions to this compound and it is therefore not recommended in those with sensitive skin.

My verdict 

Looking at the list above and comparing it to the research, it certainly seems as if the product could deliver on its claims. I just have to use it a few times I guess to get the hang of the product i guess

REN CLEAR SKINCARE XMAS LAUNCH LONDON

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening my CU readers, I hope you are all having a splendid week, I have something I believe you would all be interested in reading about, as I know you all love when I write about my favourite skincare brands, well here goes

I was blessed to be invited to REN CLEAR SKINCARE Christmas Products launch and i kid you not guys before I even walked into the building you can smell the products outside on the streets before you even entered the room where it was been held and I can tell you the scents were just so sweet and soothing to the nose

The launch was held at the Soho Hotel in London and it had beautiful bold animals printed scarfs and cushions  laid out on the couch and also on the tables brought colour and vibrant to the room
